Step 5: Transform your Sage 50 company file into QuickBooks

Locate the “Browse” option in the QB conversion tool. After clicking on it, you will be taken to your computer’s file directory. Select and upload the specified Sage 50 file that needs to be converted.

  • After uploading the company file in the Pervasive 32-bit ODBC engine DSN Setup window, click the OK button.
  • Enter the new password that you created during the setup process, and then select Next.
  • You’ll need to choose your current version and edition of QuickBooks. Fill in the details according to your existing QuickBooks setup. (Note: For a smoother experience, it’s recommended to perform the Sage 50 to QuickBooks data conversion using the latest version.)
  • Click Browse again to select the folder where you want to save your converted data. This step is optional; if you skip it, the converted file will automatically be saved in the My Documents folder. To minimize confusion, choose a folder with no more than two files.
  • Review all the information you’ve entered, then click on Convert File.
  • A QuickBooks – Application Certificate window will pop up requesting access. Click Yes, then Continue. You will see this prompt twice.
  • After a brief moment, the conversion process will be completed. The QuickBooks conversion tool will notify you once the task is successful.
  • Open the converted file. It may take a little time for the file to load.

Step 6. Finalize Account Reconciliation

Always open the file converted from Sage 50 to QuickBooks in the QuickBooks Desktop version. Examine the saved file and its data to confirm that all information is accurately recorded. Also, review the transfer log.

  • Open the Start Menu.
  • Use the search bar to find File Explorer.
