Step-By-Step Xero to QuickBooks Migration

Step 1: Data Extraction from Xero

Log into your Xero account. Click Here
lick on the Accounting tab located in the menu bar, then select Advanced.
In the Advanced Settings, choose Chart of Accounts.
Our company’s Chart of Accounts will appear. Click on the Export button to download the data in CSV format.
The CSV file will be saved to your computer.

Step 2: Formatting the CSV File

Open the downloaded CSV file using Excel or another spreadsheet application.
Ensure the following fields are included:
1. Type of Account
2. Account Name
3. Number
4. Detail Type
If your accounts are numbered, add a column labeled Account Number.
For any sub-accounts, create an additional column titled Account Name for clarity.
Save the modified CSV file after making the necessary adjustments.

Step 3: Importing the CSV File into QuickBooks

Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
Navigate to the Settings menu and select Import Data.
When prompted, choose the Chart of Accounts option for the type of data to import.
Click on Browse and then select the Open option to locate your formatted CSV file.
Choose the CSV file you prepared and click Next.

Step 4: Mapping Imported Data to QuickBooks Fields

In the column for fields, click the dropdown arrow to select the corresponding options.
Ensure that the imported data aligns with the relevant QuickBooks fields, including Detail Type, Account Name, Type, and Account Number.
Once you have completed the mapping, click Next.
If any fields are highlighted in red, make the necessary corrections. After fixing any issues, click the Import button.
